CNN Anchor’s Tears – Good For Discourse?

One of the startling new methods CNN has employed to fight for the Democrat’s positions is their use of anchor-tears. By this I mean, changing issues from Right Vs Left into Right Vs Wrong and then crying , gasping and wailing on air over the perceived injustices perpetrated by conservative policy. With this tactic they believe anchors can take a position on issues and still be accepted as credible journalists.

Here is how it works… Do Republicans believe that it is not the government’s place to provide health insurance or are Republicans evil people in support of babies dying? Do Republicans believe in lowering taxes or do they believe in stealing money from the poor and giving it to the rich? Do Republicans believe that we need to enforce border security or are they racists?

When the problem arose regarding how children brought over the border illegally were being treated, tears emerged in horror of Trump’s position. The audience will not hear the other side of the story, because this is a “moral issue” to CNN. There is only one side to this story.

But what if we did what CNN anchors refuse to do and used our brains to think about the issue facing the children?

The media got their way. Due to an onslaught of bad press an executive order signed by Trump apparently made it illegal to separate children from their parents . However this is not good policy. It is already illegal to hold a child with the parents for 20 days. Therefore the government can’t hold the child separately, nor can they keep the child with the parents. This leaves one option, the government must release the entire family into the US. The executive order, unless it had qualified language in it, essentially gave a free-entry ticket to anyone caught crossing the border illegally – if they bring children.

What will happen to children on the other side of the border as a result of this policy will be many times worse than what the US Dept of HHS did to children. The media will not write articles or do human interest stories on the death, rape and heartless behavior that human smuggling spawns. They will certainly not discuss how this new policy will effect the savagery. It doesn’t fit the agenda.

Jake Tapper’s Judgement Clouded

The CNN anchor Jake Tapper captured two former heads of the United States intelligence agencies admitting {video below} that they both believe Donald Trump is assaulting our democracy and yet Tapper didn’t ask the most basic follow-up question.

Clapper, ‘I think our institutions are under assault internally’
Tapper, ‘Internally from the President?”
Clapper, “Exactly’
Clapper, ‘I feel as though [checks and balances] is under assault and eroding’
Hayden, ‘As a citizen I totally agree with what Jim {Clapper] told you yesterday’ [said after hearing Clapper’s comments]

Does Tapper comprehend what happens if the leaders of the NSA, CIA and FBI conclude that the President is assaulting democracy? These two former intelligence giants surmised that Trump is impeding the other branches of our government from doing one of their constitutionally assigned duties; keeping the executive in check. Tapper is so happy to have people on his team (Go Hillary) he doesn’t ask the spy duo what they would do about this crisis, or what their replacements are going to do about it. If they feel our very democracy is in jeopardy, then what? Watch it all fall down? Great job Jake. Maybe when the Marines call Trump a Clear and Present Danger you will awake from your slumber. These men are dangerous.

Another Way CNN Perpetuates Anti-Trump Hate

We have detailed here and here some of the tactics used by CNN to propagate the Democratic agenda and perpetuate a hatred of the President. But there is another tool in their toolbox that is as absurd. Here’s how it works and an interesting recent problem they faced:

If a story is about immigration, CNN brings on guests who are illegal immigration success stories. If a story is about Trump rebuilding the nuclear arsenal, CNN brings on the author of a book about nuclear holocaust. The tactic is simple, CNN chooses an “expert” with a slanted point of view,

But when CNN reported a story about the Attorney General cracking down on crime, they faced a problem maintaining their stance as the opposition. An audience would find it ridiculous if CNN sided with the criminals. So what did they do? They found the 1 in 10,000 peddlers of poison, who turned his life around, and interviewed him. They are shameless.

UPDATE 05/15/2017: CNN is playing the race angle. Increases in law enforcement or criminal justice is racist, it disproportionately affects blacks.

What Jimmy Kimmel Did Was Wrong

Jimmy Kimmel seems like a really nice guy and compared to many other people working the late night circuit, he seems to have a high degree of integrity. On May 1st, Mr. Kimmel went public with the story of his newborn son who was born with a heart defect that was surgically repaired. His son’s prognosis thankfully looks great. But during Kimmel’s emotional monologue detailing the ordeal he took a turn into politics, while trying to sound apolitical. His motives were pure but his actions were not.

…before 2014 if you were born with congenital heart disease like my son was, there was a good chance you’d never be able to get health insurance…

…if your baby is going to die and it doesn’t have to, it shouldn’t matter how much money you make…

…don’t let their partisan squabbles divide us on something every decent person wants…

This sounds reasonable, but is it? Mr. Kimmel unintentionally employed an age-old trick used by seasoned politicians. This maneuver is not different from the countless times Donald Trump showcases families of people with loved-ones murdered by illegal immigrants to make his point on illegal immigration. These arguments are hard to oppose because they rely on emotion overtaking logic. We should all be wary of any issue portrayed in this way. It is rare to have a nationwide argument, with one side angelic and the other side monstrous, it’s never that simple.

These matters are more complex. There is a valid argument that the United States of America should adopt universal government-provided healthcare, but that is not the issue at hand. Obamacare does not guarantee everyone health care.

So… Jimmy created an argument where his side is demanding all Americans receive medical care and the other side only offers care to rich people. This was not unlike how Meryl Streep argued against kicking every person, born outside America, out of the county. Both celebrities are fighting fights that are not based in reality. The two of them made up imaginary arguments in lieu of the complicated arguments we actually have.

If we keep Obamacare, premiums will rise, and more young healthy people will be unable to afford their insurance payments. Some of these young-ins will drop out of coverage while the sick remain in the insurance pool. This will lead to insurance companies profits dropping and in turn, will cause premiums to rise yet again. Then more healthy people drop coverage. And so it goes. Most experts do not deny this is where we are heading. This cycle was labeled the “death spiral,” and it is the rationale that stands against Kimmel’s Obamacare endorsement.

Now, anyone can also pull on our heart-strings to explain this half of the debate.. like so; with rising premiums the family of five in Iowa, making fifty thousand dollars a year, can no longer afford insurance and when their baby gets sick and they don’t go to the doctor, their baby dies; so we must end Obamacare.

If we lived in an age where we had journalism, the public would hear both sides and form an opinion. We don’t, today, all you will hear on CNN is that Trump wants 24 million people to lose insurance so you should go join a protest. The main-stream-media presents only one side of the issue to their audience and so did Mr. Kimmel.

So please, let’s pray for Jimmy’s baby but not ignore what problems we have in this country with our health system. We need to solve these problems and carrying anti-Trump signs does not solve them.
